The W.I. Dykes Library is in UHD’s One Main Building with its collection found through the entirety of the fifth floor. The north section of the fourth floor includes its computer lab, group study rooms, presentation rooms, events space and a reading room. Study rooms are available for groups or individuals and may require a reservation.
Librarians offer research consultation by phone and appointment. Assistance is offered at the Wellness & Success Center on Sundays and during the week. A librarian chat feature is available on the UHD Library website.
Freely accessible computers are in the Academic Building near A429 and A613. Printing services are five cents per page and $1 for color pages. Printing is deducted from student network accounts at a starting credit of $25.
Students can rent headphones, whiteboards, webcams, flash drives, digital cameras including scientific and graphic video cameras and calculators. Free exam materials, including scantrons and blue books, are available upon request.
Articles, books, and DVDs not available at the UHD library can be requested through the Interlibrary loan website. UHD students, faculty, and staff may also borrow items directly from the following on-campus libraries; M.D. Anderson Library, William R. Jenkins Architecture, Design, and Art Library, Music Library, Health Sciences Library, and the Islamic Da’wah Center Medical Library
The W.I. Dykes Library offers a wide variety of DVDs, including films from the Criterion Collection, rare VHS tapes, and audiobooks. Streaming services available include Kanopy, Swank Motion Pictures, Films on Demand, and Alexander Street Film.
