As Section Editor of The Dateline since 2022 pursuing a Master’s in Technical Communication, Sonia Sanchez is a vibrant journalist with a penchant for spreading good news and spotlighting local heroes. Her foray into journalism began while reporting for The Dateline as an undergraduate at UHD, and she quickly earned the role of Section Editor. 

Known for her creative flair and personable storytelling, Sonia has covered a diverse range of topics, from cultural features to inspiring human-interest stories. Due to her outstanding contributions to media and journalism, Sonia supports her graduate studies with a scholarship from the Houston Association Hispanic Media Professionals. Passionate about cultural topics and uplifting the Hispanic community, Sonia continues to make her mark as a journalist with heart and credibility.

In her spare time, Sonia is an avid dancer who frequents dance classes on everything from hip-hop to street jazz across Houston. Her always-vivacious voice shines through in her reporting, aiming to inspire readers to pursue their own dreams and embrace positivity.
