On Feb. 25, Rep. Jasmine Crockett was present at the Harris County Attorney’s Office for a speech and meet and greet with Houston locals and voters. The event started with Rep. Crockett encouraging people to vote, especially younger attendees as younger generations historically tend to not vote because they feel their vote does not matter. This was proven by a poll the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research released in 2025 in which younger people shared a sense of disillusionment with voting and the country’s politics.

Rep. Crockett attempted to break this disillusionment and instill hope in attendees. Many locals attended and left with pictures, posters and hope for change as one attendee stated, “It was nice seeing a powerful woman that assertive for change, we get too many democrats that just roll over and say they’re going to change something and don’t even have the energy to do it. She has the energy to do it. I have faith she will.”
Plenty of other attendees also left with a newfound sense of hope as another shared, “She [Rep. Crockett] is saying it’s our [younger generations] time—we are the generation that can make a change. People think that Texas is all red, when in reality, there’s a lot of blue. Her speech was very encouraging, you know, very motivating, getting us out there to vote.”
The right to vote is a constitutional right that all eligible voters should make use of. This is the message Rep. Crockett attempted and succeeded in spreading. Primary election day is on March 3. Voters may find a polling place and preview information on their ballot here.
